Upload Images/Illustrations

As a contributor (prospective Member) you are required to study our brief online course, which can be accessed by clicking on the link "TUTORIAL/REGISTER AS A PHOTOGRAPHER" in my account. When you feel confident that you have understood the tutorial, please take the test, based on your comprehension of this material. On successfully completing the test, you will then qualify to become a Member and subsequently be entitled to submit your work - photographs, images and graphics, etc.- to our editorial staff for approval.

After the first files/samples are inspected and accepted you can start uploading images.

When uploading files into the database please use the following channels:

  • Upload Photographs

  • Upload Images/Illustrations

  • Upload Multiple Files

  • FTP Upload (JPG only) - go to our contact form and choose request a FTP account. Once you receive your FTP login and password you can start using FTP upload.

Images should be no smaller than 1600 x 1200 pixels (2 Megapixel), The bigger the better. And saved at the premium quality. When your file has been uploaded, it will be referred in the order received to our editors for their approval. You will receive an e-mail informing you of whether or not a photograph or image has been approved.

The STOCKPHOTOMEDIA system operates EXIF data retrieval systems so when preparing files for upload use software systems such as Photoshop CS or Windows XP to edit the EXIF data. The EXIF data should include information such as title, description and the keywords through which your file will be accessed. If no EXIF data is provided or the system cannot access such data, the file will be transferred to your My Account/Uploaded files’ section for you to edit prior to being submitted to an editor for approval.

FTP Upload – 2-step method. Upload your photos and add any relevant data such as keywords, etc. as required, then simply forward the photos to the final STOCKPHOTOMEDIA Approval Queue.

When you upload your photos and images with the FTP Upload, they are registered and stored in My account/Uploaded files. Within this My account/Uploaded files section, there are functionsfor adding keywords, names, categories, etc. as well as for uploading any relevant Model Releases/Property Releases. To complete the procedure, simply forward your images and photos to the final STOCKPHOTOMEDIA Approval Queue. Embedded EXIF data are supported in this method.

To maximise the chances of having your files approved, you should ensure that when a photograph or image contains a recognisable person, building or place, the relevant Model/Property Release has been obtained from the individual or authorised entity and that this release has been uploaded together with the image or photograph. All trademarks, brands and copyright materials to which you do not own the rights should be removed and any effects such as noise etc. should be fixed before the image is uploaded.

After a period of 6 months, any images that remain in the “uploaded files” section but which have not been forwarded to the Administrative Dept for approval will automatically be removed.

Preparing Illustrations for Uploading.

When uploading vector illustrations into the database, please follow these procedures.

Vector illustrations can be created in software such as Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop CS and Coral Draw.

Illustrations should be saved as either an AI (Adobe Illustrator Version 8) or an EPS (Encapsulated Postscript) file into a .ZIP file.

Create an additional Jpeg or Gif image at least 350 pixels wide.

All fabric, wallpaper and other such artistic designs are generally protected by copyright granted to the original designer. Images made up predominantly of these designs are likely to be perceived as containing unauthorised derivative work. If you own the copyright to work which comes into this category, or have approval to use such work, or have been granted the right of ownership, such information should be entered in the Note to Inspector section of your upload, or the relevant Property Release should be forwarded as an attachment in the Model Release area

Please note that artistic designs used as background or which are not the focal point of an image are permitted.

We do not refuse any images...

...but take all images and photos into consideration – pets, sunsets & clouds, flowers and forest snapshots, etc. However, there are lots of inferior pictures of thes; second-rate photos and images readily available to the public and we are not interested in adding to these collections. On the other hand truly high quality snapshots of pets, sunsets & clouds, flowers and forest, with no noise & compression, with excellent lighting & composition, useful concepts, etc. stand a far better chance of being accepted.
